Here’s one of my all time favorite quotes:
Last self-plug before I get into what I want to share: if you haven’t subscribed to my YouTube channel, please do so!! I’m going to be posting a lot more over there soon. Thanks! Okay, here we go…
As outspoken as I am as an atheist on my Jesus Unfollower accounts, I’m still not open about it on my personal accounts. That’s going to change very soon. I’ve been going back and forth about whether I want to make a big post about it or if I will just start sharing more stuff that aligns with my way of thinking without making a big deal about it.
So, with that in mind, I searched for YouTube videos to see how other people “came out” atheist. This lead me to some videos in the “Openly Secular” series–the first one being Bart Ehrman. I’m currently reading his book Misquoting Jesus. He talks about being an agnostic atheist and being open about it. Check out the video here.
There are some great videos about the importance of being yourself openly. In Bill Maher’s video, he says “You might find you have more friends than you think.” That made me think that my story could be really helpful for others.
Arian Foster, former NFL running back, also has a great Openly Secular video: https://youtu.be/LrLZkwMP8kk
Listen and Change
I recently became Facebook friends with my Instagram pal, @heretical_theology. I saw where he shared a really cool comic strip from The Oatmeal about listening and being willing to change. It’s definitely worth checking out. https://theoatmeal.com/comics/believe
God’s Got This
I’m sick of this pandemic, just like everyone else, but I’m still socially distancing and wearing a mask if/when I need to go places. In this video, a minor (who apparently has a health issue) isn’t wearing a mask at Walmart, and this old couple just goes the fuck off on him. The woman actually puts her hands on the person filming.
I can’t even begin to explain the irony of a “God’s Got This” face mask. I mean… c’mon, man. Click here to see the Facebook video.
An atheist woman, Kelda Roys, has won the Democratic Primary for the State Senate of Wisconsin. Here’s a quote from Kelda:
“My experience as an atheist, an attorney, and a staunch ACLU supporter means I respect religion’s role in private life, but reject its role in public policy or government. Religious views should not make law.”
How awesome is that?! Atheism needs to be normalized in this country, and having outspokenly non-religious people in politics is one damn good way to get that train moving.

Tyson with the Knockout
No, not that Tyson; I’m talking about the Neil deGrasse variety. I, like probably anyone reading this newsletter, love Neil deGrasse Tyson. He is super chill, logical, and has such a calm way of expressing his views. In this interview, he lays out how “god is either not all powerful or not all good” and that religions are called faiths because they don’t have evidence. I hope you go down the rabbit hole of NDT videos because that’s exactly what I did. Watch the video HERE.
As always, thank you for reading.
Let logic and reason guide the way!
