What’s up nonbelievers, doubters, and skeptics?
Welcome to the 7/12 edition of Unfollower’s Digest!
It’s been a pretty good week, personally, besides the fact that my AC isn’t working properly. The temp in my apartment was 77 degrees at 10pm last night. *insert cry emoji*
I hope your week has been decent; I know the world is heavy right now…especially when shit like this reaches our ears:
God over Family
A Christian author, whose books were already removed from some Christian bookstores for supporting equal rights, recently showed support for her daughter after she came out as a lesbian. As you can guess, the backlash is strong. Fuckwipe Ken Ham had this to say:
“Instead of training her child in the ways of the Lord, she is condoning her daughter doing whatever she wants with her sexuality, in direct conflict with what God’s Word.”
Yeah, that’s right, Ken. Her daughter can do whatever the FUCK she wants with her sexuality! These people are insane. Here’s the link to the full article: https://friendlyatheist.patheos.com/2020/07/07/evangelical-author-gets-backlash-after-showing-support-for-her-lesbian-daughter/
Christians love to talk about about having childlike faith, citing verses like Matthew 18:2-4:
“And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”
Halley Kim wrote an excellent Instagram post about this. Here’s part of the caption:
“Christians love to cite “have faith like a child” as a way to hush those of us who ask pesky questions. But it seems like these folks haven’t met many children.”

Bad Reasons to Believe in God
If you’re like me, you are interested in figuring out why people believe the things they do (epistemology). When you have a podcast like mine and run social media accounts like mine, you run into many people who want to tell you that you’re wrong, so I like to educate myself on their positions. Videos like this one help: https://youtu.be/RNfhvw1KE3A

I get sick of hearing about how persecuted Christians are, especially in America. I will say, atheists have it easier in America than some parts of the world, even though we have a vocal Protestant Christian sect. In the rest of the world, life isn’t so easy for nonbelievers:
“Evidence is growing that humanist and atheist activists are being targeted on the basis of their rejection of a majority religion or their promotion of human rights, democratic values and critical thinking…”
This quote comes from an article from The Guardian, that you can check out here: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jun/25/atheists-and-humanists-facing-discrimination-across-the-world-report-finds
I hope you have a fantastic Sunday. Thank you so much for reading!
Until next week!
P.S. I have started a Patreon, where you can see content that I’m only publishing there and get podcast episodes a week before they are released (next week’s podcast is about the documentary Jesus Camp).
