Hello! Welcome to Unfollower’s Digest.
This has been a really heavy week. It’s been anything but normal. I didn’t release a podcast episode; it just didn’t feel right. I haven’t done as many posts on Instagram and have been more focused on stepping back or sharing what I can about the Black Lives Matter movement.
I do, however, think it’s important that people take mental breaks and refreshers, so I’ve posted a couple of things on the ‘gram that hopefully brought a laugh or two.
I read a Wikipedia page called “Racial segregation of churches in the United States.” One of the lines that stood out to me was “Many White Christians in the 18th century did not consider African Americans fully human and did not believe that they had souls.”
On the grand scale of things, that wasn’t all that long ago.
The point of my website/podcast/email isn’t to get political, but there is only one correct side of what’s going on right now, and that is the side of equality. Here is a tweet thread from earlier in the week on police being assholes, in case you haven’t seen it already.

I would definitely recommend watching two things on Netflix: 13th, an eye-opening documentary about systemic racism in the US and When They See Us, a mini-series about the Central Park 5.
Shifting into more atheist-related content, Rebekah over at The Curious Atheist published an interesting blog post about paleoanthropology, evolution, and creationism.
A friend sent me a link to this crazy chick who is talking about the end times. She says that the rapture is going to happen in a year or less. She just can’t see how it could go on longer than that: https://youtu.be/F5Plpd925lU
If you consume any amount of atheist content, I’m sure you’re familiar with Hemant Mehta, “The Friendly Atheist.” He was on Jen Aldrich’s YouTube channel, The Atheist Wine Down, where they discussed how the atheist community has a tendency to dismiss some other nonbelievers who might not be as intellectual. I thought it was a pretty good chat: https://youtu.be/T5zHOALocE8
PBS is coming out with a documentary about being LGBTQ+ in the South, and of course people are offended. Hemant explains in this article: https://friendlyatheist.patheos.com/2020/06/03/christian-hate-group-pbs-prideland-is-an-unjust-attack-on-christianity/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook
By now, you’ve surely seen Donald Trump’s infamous Bible photo. What you might not have seen is this fucking hilarious bit by Stephen Colbert: https://youtu.be/YlR0B9KU3Uw
I will have more stuff to share with you next week, for sure. I have probably consumed about a quarter of the stuff that I normally do because I’ve been trying to educate myself on racial injustice and consuming content in that area.
I hope you have a great Sunday and week!
Until next time!
P.S. I have started a Patreon, where you can see content that I’m only publishing there and get early access to podcast episodes. If you like my stuff and want to support me, click HERE to check it out.
